This is what produces a pungent odor that scares mice and most rodents away. Modern Day Mothballs contain a mixture of Naphthalene, a chemical pesticide and deodorant (since it's smells so pungent!)
Should you use mothballs?
It's up to you! They do work but have been known to cause health risks, so be aware. Using mothballs as an animal repellent can also be illegal in some states. Check your local laws!
