SharkBite Push-On Elbow FNPT 1/2" x 1/2"  Connection System employs a two-stage advanced push-fit design. As the tube is inserted into the fitting, it passes through a release collar and then a stainless steel grab ring in the first step. The teeth on the grab ring grasp the tube. The tube is then forced through an O-ring protector in the second level, which aligns it. Before the tube's end meets the tube stop, the specially formulated O-ring is squeezed between the fitting's wall and the tube. A stable joint is formed only after the tube has passed through the O-ring and entered the tube stop. The Tube Support Insert in the SharkBite® fittings is useful in supporting PEX tubing and ensuring that the O-ring seals correctly on the outside.
