Solid Color Stains contain the most color, and the most protection from the elements. It almost looks like a solid paint from some angles. Solid Stains covers the majority of imperfections, while lightly allowing the wood texture to show through.
Great for use on: Old decks and timber in poor condition OR if you just want to change the color of your deck. Pressure-treated timber, cedar, and redwood are all acceptable wood kinds.
Unlike Solid Stains, semi solid stains contain slightly less color, allowing for more of the natural wood grain to show through. Semi Solid Stains will cover inperfections in your wood while protecting. (not as well as a solid stain)
Great for use on:An older deck or wood that requires little color and aesthetic enhancement—ideal for softwoods like cedar and pine.
Both of these colors are considered the same color, by code yet they look like different colors. This is because of the opacity of the stains, when you choose a Semi-Solid Stain it will be much lighter/translucent than a solid stain. It allows you to highlight the natural beauty of the wood grain while protecting it.
