EASY TO START
Thanks to electronic cold/warm start recognition there is now only one start position on the combi-lever (▲). M-Tronic calculates electronically the exact fuel dosage. The engine starts after fewer pulls andwith no change of position, and can immediately accelerate up to speed – for strength-saving, faster work.

DECOMPRESSION VALVE
Easy starting includes the decompression valve. Pressing the valve before starting reduces compression pressure and starter rope effort. The semi-automatic decompression valve opens manually but closes automatically.
STIHL ELASTOSTART
When starting an internal combustion engine, the stresses are jerky because of the compression pressure. In the ElastoStart special starter grip, the damping element alternately absorbs and releases force based on how the grip is compressed. This makes for a smooth and even start.
STIHL 2-MIX engine
The two-stroke engine with STIHL 2-MIX technology saves up to 20 % of fuel and reduces emissions by up to 70 % compared to STIHL 2-stroke engines of the same performance class without 2-MIX technology.

When the air filter gets dirty, this controller in the carburetor keeps the mixture of fuel and air from getting too rich. Depending on how much air goes through the air filter, the correct amount of fuel is sent to the carburetor. This keeps the amount of fuel to air in the combustion mixture the same, which keeps the power of the engine the same as well. The filter doesn't need to be cleaned until it loses enough power to be noticeable.
STIHL NEW OIL PUMP SYSTEM
The new oil pump system allows a higher volume of oil to be delivered. This is especially useful in dusty conditions or when using a long guide bar.

The tooth length of the bumper spikes has been adjusted to account for the radial contours of trees. The saw bites into wood even better when cutting lengths and felling.
